Abstract
Diffusion resistive networks may be used in the parallel implementation of a number of early vision processes. In this paper, we show that IIR filters optimal for step edge detection under Canny's criteria can be realized by such diffusion phenomena. Parallel analog VLSI implementations may be based either on combinatorial analog circuits or on switched capacitors circuits. We also propose analog implementations of non maxima suppression and hysteresis thresholding. Finally, functional simulation results are provided.
